INTERNET RESOURCES
In this article by Bryan Alexander, he provides information about the need for technology in the classroom and how to improve the learning of our students today using more than technology as supplemental materials. It should drive education and provide additional opportunities for students to learn and work together collaboratively. Students are social by nature, and technology provides additional ways to capitalize on this natural event. "The internet has linked people from the beginning, to the extent that the relatively recent term 'social software' purports to restore some of the Internet's original intention" (Alexander, 2007). This website offers many links to resources of examples for teachers to explore bringing technology into the classroom. The information is easy to access and the links are summarized with the information that is available on them. The author categorizes the links in a user-friendly format. The categories of information for educators to explore include: discussion boards, web publishing, wikis, blogging, social images, social bookmarking, podcasting, campus podcasting examples, virtual worlds, journals, blogs about teaching and technology, and conferences. The website is very valuable with providing access to resources for educators to explore the possibilities of providing excellent, effective educations to the 21st Century information-age learners. As educators, we cannot afford to stagnate and not improve our technological skills and teaching abilities. We must explore all available resources and bring technology into the classrooms to the students, who are waiting for us to catch up with them. I would recommend this website highly to educators wanting to explore the technology capabilities available and promote the use of additional technology resources in their schools.
